The Syd Barrett Centre Has A Name
Just a quick bit of housekeeping type news to start the week.
As you probably know by now, the long-term goal of the Syd Barrett Fund is to create an arts centre in Cambridge, named in Syd’s memory.
Up to now, both in the office and in publicity material, we’ve been rather vaguely referring to this as The Syd Barrett Centre for the Arts, or other slight variations.
So as to best reflect what the centre is for, and with the Social Arts Network in mind, we’re going to be calling this project from now on, ‘The Syd Barrett Centre for Social Arts’.
By the end of the week I should have a little more on City Wakes 2, although don’t get too excited as we’re still in the very early stages of planning. We won’t be announcing dates or venues or anything like that just yet.

What is SANe?
Think of SANe as a meta- network, an adhocracy, for people, organisations and other networks that are working in the field of arts and social action. The only requirement for joining SANe is that you have an interest in the arts as a means for raising awareness: a way of groping towards a collective super-ego or social mind.

Visit the SANe bookstore for a great range of books on socially inclusive arts. A percentage of any book sale made through SANe is donated to Escape Artists (UK registered charity no. 1086004) and helps to pay for the costs of managing this network.
