I've just updated the about me section so I now have a personal profile that let's you know who I am.Oct 10
Profile Information
Arts Forms I'm Interested in:
Drama, Visual Arts, Music
About Me:
I am the press and marketing officer for Escape Artists, having joined in February 2009. Much of my time is spent working on the Syd Barrett Fund; it is me that writes the blog on the Social Arts Network.
Before EA I was a marketing assistant at the Hackney-based children’s theatre company Quicksilver.
I’m also involved in the running of the music news and reviews website www.roomthirteen.com, something I’ve done since June 2005, and between August and October 2009, worked for the Finborough Theatre in Earls Court as a press and marketing officer for a festival of new writing.
Some more information about me which may, or may not, be of interest:
I’ve attended more than 25 music festivals, including the last nine Reading or Leeds Festivals.
I once had a Foo Fighters review printed in the Independent.
I competed for England at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester in an event called 100 metres for Elite Athletes with Disabilities, and since you ask, mine is sight.
I sponsor a monkey at Monkey World in Dorset called Arfur.
I once cycled from London to Berlin as a fundraiser for Scope – as good a way as any of getting to the 2006 World Cup.
I once went up the Empire State Building in thick fog, just so I could say I’d been there.
I’m a season ticket holder at Harlequins Rugby League (rugby league is the 13 man, vastly superior version of rugby for those who weren’t sure).
My football watching takes me to Griffin Park, home of League 1 side Brentford.
Life ambitions:
To climb a really big mountain.
Would love to try bobslay.
I’ve tried on a few occasions to start to write books, but often lack of time and a fairly poor attention span knocks that one on the head.
To go to a music festival outside of the UK.

As it's 20 years today since 'A Grand Day Out', I thought I'd share this remix of the wallace and gromit theme song which chris moyles used to play on his Capital Radio show about 15 years ago.

Hello Simon, thanks for joining and welcome to the Social Arts Network. I love the work you do and hope you meet many appropriate others here in order to help inspire others to keep up the good work.
The network is managed by Escape Artists, as you know, and is open to everyone. Next step, simply invite any friends you may know of in the arts and any others that may have a participatory interest to join your arts network.
The Social Arts Network uses and is built on a platform similar to other well-known social networks, such as MySpace, Facebook and YouTube. The Network supports both still images and video and has been developed to scale easily to support actively extensive global growth of the network.
Please feel free to share your artistic talent by uploading your photos, videos, music and research papers; and/or also start your own forum or group.

Think of SANe as a meta- network, an adhocracy, for people, organisations and other networks that are working in the field of arts and social action. The only requirement for joining SANe is that you have an interest in the arts as a means for raising awareness: a way of groping towards a collective super-ego or social mind.
SANe is supported by the Syd Barrett Fund which, amongst other things, is working towards the creation of the Syd Barrett Social Arts Centre in Cambridge, UK. More...

SANe, the Social Arts Network, exists to facilitate communication between people who are interested in the development of socially inclusive arts practice, services, exhibitions and productions. The network is managed by
Escape Artists but it is open to everyone. Please feel free to upload your photos, videos, music and research papers, or to start your own forum or group.
It's a good idea to put your photos into an album as soon as you upload them; it makes them easier to find and gives them a context. And we'd be grateful if everyone could add either a picture of themselves or a company logo to their profile. SANe Books
Visit the SANe bookstore for a great range of books on socially inclusive arts. A percentage of any book sale made through SANe is donated to Escape Artists (UK registered charity no. 1086004) and helps to pay for the costs of managing this network.
Recommend books that you think other SANe members might be interested in.
