Another date in Syd related history is coming up very soon with the single release of Octopus and Golden Hair on the Harvest label 40 years ago on 14th November 1969. This marks the first release to result from a Syd Barrett solo recording session...

Users of the Social Arts Network may well be aware of this already, but for those who didn't know, October 31 is a significant date in Floyd history, drawn to the attention of SANe members by UFO, who writes:

Roger Keith ‘Syd’ Barrett (1946-2006) was the original front-man and songwriter for Pink Floyd. Widely seen as a musical genius, he was an undisputed pioneer of the sixties underground psychedelic scene, and remains a source of unrelenting fascination for music journalists and fans alike. SANe is supported by the Syd Barrett Fund which, amongst other things, is working towards the creation of the Syd Barrett Social Arts Centre in Cambridge, UK.

It’s been a while since I wrote a blog entry, but that doesn’t mean things haven’t been happening.

What is SANe?
Think of SANe as a meta- network, an adhocracy, for people, organisations and other networks that are working in the field of arts and social action. The only requirement for joining SANe is that you have an interest in the arts as a means for raising awareness: a way of groping towards a collective super-ego or social mind.
