Hello Glynis, thanks for joining and welcome to the Social Arts Network. I love the work you do and I hope you connect with many members in the network. Our primary goal here is to help artists around the world inspire each other and encourage everyone to keep creating their good works.
As you may already know, the network is managed by Escape Artists’ and is open to everyone. Next step, simply invite any friends you may have in the arts, and any others that may have a participatory interest, to join the Social Arts Network. Make sure to use the Advanced Search option when searching the network for other members.
The Social Arts Network uses, and is built on, a platform similar to other well-known social networks such as MySpace, Facebook and YouTube. The network supports both still images and video and has been designed to easily scale and allow us to grow into an extensive global network of active artists.
Please feel free to share in here more of your artistic talents by uploading your events, photos, videos, music, training materials and research papers; and/or also start your own forum or group. If you have any questions about how to upload or edit anything, please just send me a message and ask.
Many thanks,
James Mickelson

Arts Forms I'm Interested in:
Drama, Dance, Visual Arts, Music, Multi-Media, Video, Literature
About Me:
I have been a professional dancer for many years and dived into acting upon discovering it whilst choreographing a dance performance for the Forres Alternative Festival.
Since then, I have been studying acting and graduate this July with a BA (Hons) in Performance from the University of the West of Scotland.
I perform live theatre regularly as well as films and am represented by Doveteam Casting and Creative Agency, Edinburgh.
I teach dance and drama regularly and absolutely believe in the power of performance to enhance and change lives as have seen how it helps individuals learn to know themselves, myself included.
Passionate, intense, enthusiastic and highly motivational, I have an abundance of energy and commitment to put to projects.
I have the perfect balance of being comfortable with myself and 'madness' that allows me to be spontaneous and open to others without worrying about how I might appear. I have ultimate respect for the individual whilst encouraging them to push themselves, where helpful. As a result, I get on well with all ages and am a positive team player with a genuine 'can do' attitude.
With my background and experience in dance, I consider myself to have an exceptional eye for stage presence and performance styles and am a proven director in live theatre and film.

More details about the sectors I/my company work in:
I am currently involved in several projects leading workshops in community arts, schools and young people at risk, particularly through Impact Arts and Universal Connections.
I am open to working in all areas of the community as have been so positively impacted by performance and believe creativity is a safe form of expression that can ultimately lead to acceptance of self and therefore only be good for society.
Impact Arts is a wonderful company who "use the arts as a catalyst for positive, lasting change in people's lives".
For Impact Arts, I am currently working with primary 4's together with the NHS on an oral health drama for a school that saw an increase in tooth decay. By introducing drama games and exercises to the children, they used their imaginations to come up with amazing ideas, which I then used to devise and write a play, which will be performed on 28th May in Kilmarnock in front of 200 NHS dignitaries.
I am also working on a project with a youth group on the importance of community. The dance and drama performance will showcase end-May in the new Netherthird Community Centre.
A new project for me with me via Impact Arts - Creative Pathways - has me introduce dance, stage presence and performance skills to a group of young adults, which will culminate in a fashion show in June in Glasgow
Universal Connections works exlusively with young people up to the age of 25 to encourage an interest in activities and the arts.
For Universal Connections, I teach weekly Performing Arts classes and will showcase our first display prior to the summer holidays in Douglas Primary School.
LET'S MEET - I am in:
South Lanarkshire, but am happy to travel anywhere to promote arts.
Think of SANe as a meta- network, an adhocracy, for people, organisations and other networks that are working in the field of arts and social action. The only requirement for joining SANe is that you have an interest in the arts as a means for raising awareness: a way of groping towards a social mind.
SANe is supported by the Syd Barrett Fund which, amongst other things, is working towards the creation of the Syd Barrett Social Arts Centre in Cambridge, UK. More...
Our next fundraising event will be a walk from London to Cambridge. Want to come along? Find out more...
SANe, the Social Arts Network, exists to facilitate communication between people who are interested in the development of socially inclusive arts practice, services, exhibitions and productions. The network is managed by
Escape Artists but it is open to everyone. Please feel free to upload your photos, videos, music and research papers, or to start your own forum or group.
It's a good idea to put your photos into an album as soon as you upload them; it makes them easier to find and gives them a context. And we'd be grateful if everyone could add either a picture of themselves or a company logo to their profile. SANe Books
Visit the SANe bookstore for a great range of books on socially inclusive arts. A percentage of any book sale made through SANe is donated to Escape Artists (UK registered charity no. 1086004) and helps to pay for the costs of managing this network.
Recommend books that you think other SANe members might be interested in.
